Laurel Volunteer Fire Department’s Rosa Maher Wins CMC Spirit Award!

President Vic Whipple, Chief Jim Codespote and the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department membership congratulate our own Life Member Rosa Maher for her recent recognition. She was nominated by the City of Laurel for a Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce (CMC) Spirit Award based on her outstanding contributions to the Laurel community through her work with Laurel’s Office of Emergency Management Canteen Committee. Rosa won the Public Safety Volunteer of the Year Award!
In her own words, she is humbled and honored by this award knowing the work she does allows her to help out at community events with the Canteen and also help our community in times of need.
The Central Maryland’s Chamber of Commerce says “the CMC Awards Gala is THE feel-good event of the year, a salute to the outstanding accomplishments of the Central Maryland Region’s most dedicated civil servants and chamber members/ volunteers,” recognizing “the exceptional contributions and service of these individuals to their communities, making them a better place by dedicating their passion to helping others.”
The LVFD is so proud of Rosa, who also serves as the LVFD Treasurer and on the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, for this well-deserving recognition. She has given so much to her community at local, County, and State levels. She is a Life member in the LVFD; a past President of the Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Assocation; and a past President of the Auxiliary to the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association.
