The members of the LVFD have a rich history in providing fire protection for the residents of the greater Laurel area for over 117 years and still going. The men and women of the LVFD live our motto Service for Others and are passionate about serving their community.
The LVFD is a non-profit volunteer organization that enjoys a strong partnership with the City of Laurel municipality and regularly participates in City events and committees. As of 2019, the population of Laurel City itself was 29,313. Our response area includes the City of Laurel and surrounding areas of PG County as well as mutual aid responses to Howard, Anne Arundel, and Montgomery counties.
The LVFD membership is a diverse team of highly trained and motivated volunteers that juggle their personal careers, families, and duty time in providing emergency services when called. While we are laser-focused on our primary duties of providing fire and EMS services, we balance that with fostering a healthy work environment, encouraging teamwork, socializing, and esprit-de-corps.
