March 6, 2013 - Building Fire – 101 Main Street

At 1858, Wednesday, March 7, 2013, Units were dispatched to a reported fire at an oil depot. Engine 103 responded with 8 volunteers and Engine 101 responded with 6 volunteers. Chief Kelso, Deputy Chief Hull, and Assistant Chief Grant also responded to the scene.

Units arrived on scene to discover a 2-story in the front and one story in the rear, industrial building with heavy smoke showing.  After the initial scene size-up, Rescue Engine 849 reported that there was a fire in the garage area on Side Charlie. Units on scene went to work to mitigate the situation.

The cause is still under investigation.  The fire loss was placed at approximately $350,000 total for the structure and contents.  Other units on scene were from: Beltsville (31), College Park (12), Anne Arundel Station 27 (Maryland City) and Howard County Stations: 6 (Savage), Station 10, Station 11.
