One Ejected and One Trapped on Interstate 95 - 10/10/10

 
After clearing a car fire in West Laurel, Engine 101 was alerted to southbound Interstate 95 in the area of Route 198 for a reported vehicle accident. While responding, communications began receiving updates that the vehicle was overturned, and there was possibly a deceased patient on scene. Engine 311 from Beltsville arrived first on scene, updating the location as northbound Interstate 95 near Van Dusen Road. They advised that there was one patient trapped. Engine 101 arrived, established the I95 Command, and requested a medevac helicopter for a priority 1 category A trauma patient who had been ejected and was then rolled over by the vehicle. Engine 311 and Rescue Engine 49 worked to extricate the driver of the vehicle while Engine 101 and Engine 411 assisted with a standby hoseline and patient care. Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 2 medevaced the priority 1 patient to Baltimore Shock Trauma while Medic 49 transported a priority 2 trauma patient to the same hospital by ground. Units cleared after one hour on scene.
