Andy "Popeye" Collins Passing

It's was great sadness that the LVFD announces the passing of former member Andy "Popeye" Collins. He was a member of the LVFD from 2002-2008.

Andy started his fire service career at College Park VFD (Station 12), in 1997. In 2002 he transferred here LVFD where he was a volunteer firefighter/EMT, and for a time was also a “live in”. He left us in 2008 when he was hired by DCFD, his “dream job” and started at Engine 22 /Truck 11. Andy was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in early 2017. Monday, September, 18th, at approximately 4:30pm Andy passed away, after his painful battle with Cancer.

·There will be a memorial service at Greenbelt (Station 35) Monday, 9/25 at 12pm.

·After there will be a processional to Laurel VFD (Station 10) with Andy being carried on Engine 121. 

·The arch will be Truck 12 and DC Truck 11.

·LVFD is invited to bring any apparatus to participate in “Andy’s Last Ride”, as well as any other station. 

·There will be a short reception at LVFD around 1:30, lasting until 2:30pm
