The day started off when the tones hit for the reported house in the 9200 block of Twin Hills Ln in Co. 49's first due sending Truck 10 and Chief 10A. Units arrived on scene to find fire in the walls. Chief 10A assumed the command. The Truck Co. assisted in opening up the walls from the interior and exterior of the house.
Just before 8pm, units were dispatched to I-95 southbound just before Brooklyn Bridge Rd overpass for a crash involving an overturned tractor trailer and a passenger car. First arriving units found a tractor trailer overturned with the tractor fully involved with fire. The crew from Engine 103 attacked the fire while Ambulance 108 tended to the injured drivers. At 16:50 hours, the tones dropped for a house fire on Valley Stream Ave. in Burtonsville sending Engine 101 with 5 volunteers, Chief 10 (Hull), and Chief 10A (Grant). Units from 15 went on scene with smoke showing from the front of the house and a deck on fire in the rear. As company 10 arrived on scene, E101 ran a line to side Charlie while Chief 10 was assigned the attack group.
As the President’s Day crew of 8 volunteers waited for lunch, the tones hit for a crash just down from the station at Cherry Lane and Van Dusen Rd. Engine 103 and Chief 10A (Grant) arrived to find a two car crash with injuries. Since our ambulance was on another call, ambulances from Co. 49 and Maryland City 27 assisted and transported two with minor injuries.
Around 16:45 hours the tones dropped for the mutual aid to Montgomery County. As Montgomery County units arrived on scene they had a two story single family home with smoke showing. Being a working fire, the fire task force was called, sending Truck 10, Chief 10A (Grant), and 10B (Brown) to the streets with 8 volunteers.
