March 22, 2014 – Truck Runs Overnight House Fire on Main Street

The Ladder Truck and Chief 10C (Pearcy),  running as Battalion Chief 886, responded to a reported house on fire at 414 Main St. in Co.

March 16, 2014 - Busy Day for the Dime – 3 Fires

The day started off when the tones hit for the reported house in the 9200 block of Twin Hills Ln in Co. 49's first due sending Truck 10 and Chief 10A. Units arrived on scene to find fire in the walls. Chief 10A assumed the command. The Truck Co. assisted in opening up the walls from the interior and exterior of the house.

March 15, 2014 – Emergency Responder Recert Next Two Weekends

Members who have Emergency Responder Certification (old Maryland First Responder) are taking the recertification class this weekend and next at the firehouse.   The course is open to all county volunteers.

March 9, 2014 - Overturned Tractor Trailer with Fire on I-95 *UPDATE with Video*

Just before 8pm, units were dispatched to I-95 southbound just before Brooklyn Bridge Rd overpass for a crash involving an overturned tractor trailer and a passenger car.  First arriving units found a tractor trailer overturned with the tractor fully involved with fire.  The crew from Engine 103 attacked the fire while Ambulance 108 tended to the injured drivers.  Units from Howa

March 3, 2014 - March Snow Storm 20 Runs in 24 hours

Units from "The Dime" had a busy day with the snow storm.  From midnight until 2359hrs on March 3rd, the Dime ran 20 calls.  Out of the 20 calls, 6 were for crashes on I95, including one "Cut Job."  On that call, Engine 104's crew cut one from a car on the southbound side near Powder Mill Rd., while the Ambo crew handled patient care.  7 volunteers

February 22, 2014 - Engine Runs Montgomery County 15 House Fire

At 16:50 hours, the tones dropped for a house fire on Valley Stream Ave. in Burtonsville sending Engine 101 with 5 volunteers, Chief 10 (Hull), and Chief 10A (Grant). Units from 15 went on scene with smoke showing from the front of the house and a deck on fire in the rear.  As company 10 arrived on scene, E101 ran a line to side Charlie while Chief 10 was assigned the attack group.

February 17, 2014 - Two Car Crash Cherry Lane at Van Dusen Rd.

As the President’s Day crew of 8 volunteers waited for lunch, the tones hit for a crash just down from the station at Cherry Lane and Van Dusen Rd.  Engine 103 and Chief 10A (Grant) arrived to find a two car crash with injuries.  Since our ambulance was on another call, ambulances from Co. 49 and Maryland City 27 assisted and transported two with minor injuries.

February 13, 2014 - Truck Runs Montgomery Co. House Fire

Around 16:45 hours the tones dropped for the mutual aid to Montgomery County. As Montgomery County units arrived on scene they had a two story single family home with smoke showing. Being a working fire, the fire task force was called, sending Truck 10, Chief 10A (Grant), and 10B (Brown) to the streets with 8 volunteers.

February 10, 2014 - New Officers Take Oath of Office

Laurel Mayor Craig Moe led the swearing-in ceremony reading the oath of office for the newly elected LVFD officers during the Laurel City Council meeting this past Monday.  The Mayor and City Council welcomed the new officers and thanked all for their service.
